I write this from a library in Florida. In the past six weeks I have traveled from Portland, Ore to Philly and then back to St Paul, Minn and down to Memphis. Along the way I have been on 13 radio programs and four TV shows. The biggest surprize was being on WNYC in New York City. I was on the Brian Leher radio program which I understand is the most popular radio show on PBS.
Since my book is about a car that does not use but makes it’s own energy, I talk mostly about alternative energy, which of course I see as the future of our country. Many people wish to get into the nuts and bolts of the Take-US energy system. I am more inclined to tell you all to first read the book before asking the more complex questions. I know you think I just want to sell books….that’s kind of true but also much of the idea is in the book and it just keeps me from rewriting the book on this blog.
The election is drawing closer and many of you ask who am I for. When I evaulate the energy policies of both canidates I am equally disappointed. Neither of them have any concrete ideas that they have expressed except perhaps McCain with his building 45 new nukes in ten years. What I would rather hear is one or the other stating a …1 year total tax write off if you or any company or corporation gets rid of their fleet and buys new hybrids. As many of you may know or heard me state that hybrids are the next step…..a ‘tweener technology between the old and the next coming. I would like to see a tax incentive to all auto companies for those converting to those coming hybrids. That alone would reduce our oil dependency by over fifty percent, if of course people started switching over. I know that’s a bold statement but you must realize that companies and corporations put on many more miles than the average person. more later
